code of conduct
Working together with kindness and respect.
At Kings Park School, we’re committed to providing a safe, welcoming and respectful environment for our learners, families, staff and visitors.
We recognise that families may sometimes feel worried, frustrated or upset, particularly when discussing their child’s needs. We will always listen carefully, communicate openly and work with families to resolve concerns wherever possible. In return, we ask everyone within our school community to communicate respectfully and calmly.
What we expect
We ask all learners, parents, carers, staff and visitors to:
- treat others with kindness, dignity and respect
- use appropriate and respectful language
- listen to the views and experiences of others
- respect differences in culture, identity, beliefs and individual needs
- follow the school’s safeguarding and health and safety procedures
- raise concerns through the appropriate school channels
- respect the privacy and confidentiality of learners, families and staff
- avoid posting photographs, information or comments about other members of the school community without permission
- behave safely and appropriately while on the school site or attending school activities
Respect for our staff
Our staff work hard to support every learner and family. They have the right to carry out their roles without experiencing abuse, intimidation, harassment or threatening behaviour.
Kings Park School will not accept:
- shouting, swearing or aggressive language
- personal insults or abusive comments
- threatening or intimidating behaviour
- discriminatory language or behaviour
- harassment through telephone calls, emails, messages or social media
- malicious or knowingly false allegations
- aggressive, disruptive or unsafe behaviour on the school site
Where communication becomes abusive or threatening, a member of staff may end the conversation, telephone call or meeting. The school may ask for future communication to take place in writing or through a named member of staff. In serious or repeated cases, access to the school site may be restricted and the matter may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
These steps will always be considered carefully and will not prevent legitimate concerns or complaints from being heard.
Raising a concern
We want families to feel able to raise questions or concerns. In most cases, concerns can be resolved through an open conversation with the relevant member of staff.
If a concern cannot be resolved informally, families may use the school’s formal complaints procedure. Raising a genuine concern or complaint will never affect the support provided to a learner.
Our shared commitment
Positive relationships between school and home help learners feel safe, understood and ready to learn. By communicating honestly, listening to one another and treating everyone with respect, we can continue building a supportive school community together.
